COVID-19 Safety Plans – Where are they?

Yesterday we provided you with a definitive guide to changes in each state and territory response to COVID-19. Each state and territory relies on the Safe Work Australia’s National COVID-19 safe workplace principles and requires organisations to prepare a COVID-Safe plan. But what plan? Where is the plan? Not surprisingly, in the rush for governments to regulate – there is no template plan to work from.
The obligation now to have a COVID-19 Work Plan exists under the emergent statements, regulations and other legal processes surrounding governments response to COVID-19 and Safety Law.
Why Safety Law? Because every state, territory and the Federal Government has made it clear it is necessary and reasonably practicable to do. You must have a COVID-19 Work Plan assisting you undertake work safely.
