It is proposed by the government of New South Wales that from 1st January 2023 the Retail Leases Act be amended to include small bars , and businesses in the health and fitness industries , such as gyms and yoga studios as business governed by the Act.
The amendments further provide that the mediation of disputes provisions under the Act will apply to new retail shops, even if the leases were entered into before the amendments commenced .
The changes will be made by the passing of the Retail Leases Regulation 2022. The regulation is currently available for public consultation.
