It seems likely that the Unions and Industry peak bodies will file a consent, temporary variation to the Vehicle Manufacturing, Repair, Services and Retail Award 2010 in the next few days. Like the Education Services (Schools) General Services Award 2010, we expect the key changes will be:
- Capacity to reduce hours by 25% on five days’ notice and
- Require employees to do alternate work they are able, licenced and safe to do.
As Motor Vehicle Dealers struggle to recover from the pandemic, it is their workshops and parts areas that will help them stay afloat. This type of short term flexibility will assist.
